November 6th 2025 Live shoot experience

The Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club has been given an exciting opportunity for handlers and their dogs to participate in a live game day.

We have been invited to come along to gain the experience of working our dogs in a live shoot environment with some very experienced people who have been involved in local shoots for many years.  Game on the day will be mainly pheasants however their maybe some partridge or woodcock.  There will be a Health and Safety talk at the beginning of the day to ensure everyone is aware of what is expected, and all insurances are in place. 

The event will be held on:

Date: Thursday 6th November

Location: nr Bowes Village in Durham

Meeting Time: 09:00

Approx end time: 15:00

Max number of Handlers and Dogs: 8 places

Members price:  £75 per handler. 

Please bring your own lunch, although tea and coffee will be provided.

Further details and information about the day and location will be provided to those who book.

July 12th & 13th 2025 breed confined training weekend in Leyburn

 

 The Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club is holding a Breed Confined Gundog Training weekend event, on 12th & 13th July 2025 in Leyburn DL8 5FA

The training is designed for dogs of all abilities and ages (from 6 months old).

The trainer for the weekend is Mrs Yvonne Storr. Yvonne is an experienced Working Test Judge for Retriever and is on the Executive Committee member of the Golden Retriever Club Northumbria. Yvonne is very familiar with the Irish Water Spaniel as she has two of her own, she has also been one of the Judges for our Minor Breeds Working Test team event two years in a row and has facilitate training for us at Leyburn for the past two years.

Camping/ Accommodation – (Additional cost) There is a campsite called Cow Close Caravan Leyburn https://www.cowclosecaravanandcamping.co.uk/ located next door to the land which has full facilities electric hook up, shower block etc. They also have camping pods. The town has many hotels which are dog friendly and also dog friendly pubs etc. There is also other camping near Leyburn, please google Camping Leyburn.
