NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING on Sunday 15th March 2026 at 11:00am

The Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club’s AGM will be held virtually via Teams on Sunday the 15th of March 2026. If you wish to attend, please make it known to the Acting Secretary. The AGM Agenda will be distributed to the membership attending no later than by Sunday the 15th of February 2026


 Certified Accounts:- These will be distributed along with the agenda for Membership Approval four weeks prior to the meeting date. 


 Election of Officers and Executive Committee. Nominations are invited for the following posts:

Honorary Chairman. The Honorary Chairman’s position is due for Election under the three-year Rotation of Officers. Therefore, nominations are invited for this post. Any nomination must be proposed and seconded by fully paid-up members. Any nominee must have been a member for a period of ONE year prior to the intended term of office.  Please contact the person you wish to nominate and ensure they wish to stand.  If the person wished to stand they need to inform the Acting secretary no later than three weeks prior to the AGM Meeting Date.  The person requires two people to nominate them and  then.   


Proposals and nominations for the election of Officers and Committee must be received by the Acting Secretary in writing to susan.sheehan-watson@outlook.com, duly proposed and seconded, Three weeks prior to the AGM. The deadline for nominations is Sunday the 8th of February 2026. (Five weeks prior to the AGM meeting date as per 8.3 on the SIWSC Constitution).  


Existing Committee members shall be eligible for re-election and must notify the Honorary Secretary in writing five weeks prior to the AGM. They are not required to be proposed or seconded. Confirmation for re-election must by confirmed by Sunday the 8th of February 2026. 


Ballot papers for Committee / Proposals will be sent out if deemed necessary by Sunday the 15th of March 2026 (Four weeks prior to the AGM meeting date as per 8.4 on the SIWSC Constitution) and must be returned to the Acting Secretary by no later than Sunday the 8th of March 2026 (one week prior to the meeting date).  


The Agenda will be distributed to the membership who have requested the meeting invite details by Sunday the 15th of February 2026 (Four weeks prior to the AGM meeting date as per 8.4 on the SIWSC Constitution). 


Annual Reports will be available to membership two weeks prior to the AGM from the Acting Honorary Secretary on request 


29th March 2026 Working Test ( Northern Flatcoated Retriever Association)

14th June 2026 Minor Breed Team Test

This years annual event has been organised by the UK Nova Duck Toller Retriever Clubs


A team consists of 3 dogs Plus 1 dog as reserve. (Novice standard). Team selection will be selected either at training days, or from members who are willing to have a go, and to travel.  All team members must be a member of the SIWSC


There are 5 months to go until the event so if you are interested in being part of the SIWSC working test team and you would like to get together to train with other interested members please contact Nichol Watson on 07971 390510 or email nichol.watson@btinternet.com


Please be advised that all communication for this event must go through the SIWSC Working Test Coordinator and not directly to the organising club.

July 11th & 12th 2026 Breed Confined Training Weekend in Leyburn

 

 The Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club is holding a Breed Confined Gundog Training weekend event, on 11th & 12th July 2025 in Leyburn DL8 5FA

The training is designed for dogs of all abilities and ages (from 6 months old).

The trainer for the weekend is Mrs Yvonne Storr. Yvonne is an experienced Working Test Judge for Retriever and is on the Executive Committee member of the Golden Retriever Club Northumbria. Yvonne is very familiar with the Irish Water Spaniel as she has two of her own, she has also been one of the Judges for our Minor Breeds Working Test team event two years in a row and has facilitate training for us at Leyburn for the past two years.

Camping/ Accommodation – (Additional cost) There is a campsite called Cow Close Caravan Leyburn https://www.cowclosecaravanandcamping.co.uk/ located next door to the land which has full facilities electric hook up, shower block etc. They also have camping pods. The town has many hotels which are dog friendly and also dog friendly pubs etc. There is also other camping near Leyburn, please google Camping Leyburn.

The annual gathering for people passionate about countryside pursuits, and the Great British Countryside. A celebration of rural life and the beauty of the British landscape.  

12th and 13th September 2026 Training Weekend

   

Training weekend at Fillongley nr Coventry with Dorothy Walls-Duffin. Camping available.  

  

The Sporting Irish Water Spaniel Club will be having a training weekend with Dorothy Walls-Duffin.    

Over the years the club has attended training with Dorothy who is a very experienced Gundog trainer. The training caters for all levels so if you have a puppy, a youngster or if you want you older dog to learn new skill or enhance the ones they have bring them along.
